A Spiritual Exploration of the Literary and Performing Arts: Volume I: Philosophy

Are some musicals and movies special? We will explore this question in a series of volumes which will explore the spirituality that is embedded in some great Broadway musicals and movies. This first volume will introduce you to some basic philosophical concepts associated with the spiritual world and explore how the following thinkers and writers have used spiritual concepts in their works: Homer, George Lucas, William Shakespeare, Victor Hugo, Robert Frost, David Mamet and Oscar Hammerstein II. In the next few volumes, we will explore the major shows of Oscar Hammerstein II, including Show Boat (1927), Oklahoma! (1943), Carousel (1945), South Pacific (1949), The King and I (1951) and The Sound of Music (1959).
