The founders of the Information Marketing Association and 30 ultra-successful information marketers reveal carefully guarded information on building a highly profitable information marketing business. The 2nd edition offers new cases and success stories, new chapters on social networking and over 40 new ways to make money with information products. The indisputable gurus of the information marketing world have broken ranks. Formerly relegated to the information marketing industry’s typical fare of high-priced audio CDs, manuals and courses, once carefully guarded information on building a highly profitable information marketing business has been released to the general public in book form. Most info-marketers are lone wolf, small, quiet operators, many with home-based businesses, most with zero or just a few employees, most working only part-time hours, and most netting seven-figure profits. In other words, there is no reason any reader of this book can’t do exactly the same thing in just a few short months. Readers create an entirely new business that gives them added income or replaces their current salary entirely. It just takes the information they already know and the simple nine-step formula in this unprecedented book. Time and again, this formula has been proven to work—to the point where most info-marketers have a million-dollar business in just a year.

Comment Was this review helpful to you? YesNoFirst, full disclosure: I am mentioned in the book.
Now, that having been said, anyone who has ever thought about starting a business where the primary product is information (ie, you publish a manual, you do webinars for profit, you conduct seminars, etc) should start with this book. You CAN build a million dollar business. It took me 24, not 12 months, but I was doing it on a part time basis. Don't be fooled. This is work. None of that "sitting home in your underwear opening envelopes filled with checks stuff."
But... if you are going to do it, definitely invest in this book first. It is a step by step guide to the work required to build your business. There is no need to reinvent the wheel (as many early creators of information products had to do.) There are many successful info-marketers mentioned in the book. Track them down and ask them questions. You may find one or more folks already in your niche area. That may mean that there is actually a market for the type of information you are going to sell.
Bottom line is that starting a new business from scratch is NOT for everybody. But if you are THINKING about starting an info marketing business you'd be a fool to not invest the $15.00 or so in this book first. The very best at it today show you how in this book. So you need to find and follow a bright shining star. Not to copy outright what they have done but to learn from their successes and messes.

I expected a book light on content and mostly an up-sell, as most other similar books are. And I wouldn't have been disappointed by that as long as it included a few gems for such a small price. However, I was pleasantly surprised the book was full of great content that other information products that cost between $700 and $1500 for similar content.
The book begins with an overview of information marketing including the benefits and different business models. Throughout the book, there are numerous stories of other business owners that are great examples and inspiration.
The book provides five different detailed models that the reader can follow to launch his or her own business. These models begin with low cost and conclude with higher investment models. Included are tele-seminars, joint ventures,in person seminars and more.
This is great information I will use in my business or with my clients. I highly recommend this book for those just starting out because it gives you an easy model to follow and also for those already in the business because it is laid out well and full of helpful tips.
